Ritch Electric was started by Benjamin W. Ritch, Sr. in June of 1968, working strictly commercial electrical out of a shotgun house across the street from our present location. The company incorporated in 1972 and grew on work most shops couldn't touch, ball fields and area lighting won because few contractors in Columbus had line trucks and bucket trucks.
Through the seventies, eighties, and nineties the majority of the work was at Fort Benning, with major electrical and power distribution projects at Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute, Columbus Water Works, and the region's large mills and industrial plants.
Betsy joined the company in 1980 as a parts runner and earned every rung: IEC apprentice, journeyman electrician, licensed electrical contractor, and, in 1996, company president and owner.
Under her leadership Ritch Electric earned Woman-Owned Business Enterprise certification from the Georgia Women's Business Council and WBENC in July 2000, and grew the crew to 20–27 skilled tradespeople.
Field crew of 20–27 licensed electricians and apprentices, trained in OSHA, confined space, first aid/CPR, arc flash, and USACE quality management standards.
